Jean Marois LL.M is a lawyer, a mediator, and an educator. He is chairman of the Institut de Médiation et d’Arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ) (a mediation and arbitration organization). He exercises his profession with Professionnels en Règlements de Différends inc., an interdisciplinary legal consulting firm that specializes exclusively in dispute prevention and settlement.
Mr. Marois acts as mediator, investigator, and facilitator in several fields, including labour-management relations, organizational and relational conflicts, psychological harassment, upper-management dismissal, insurance claims, contractual and business litigations, and grievance mediation. He offers mediation and investigation services to many ministries of the Québec government, federal companies, municipalities, and private businesses.
Mr. Marois is a lecturer in the prevention and settlement of disputes programme offered within the scope of the Law Master’s program at the University of Sherbrooke, where he teaches the course on advanced mediation. He is also an accredited instructor for Emploi Québec and the Society for Continuing Education and Training (SOFEDUC).
He has in the past occupied political functions, in public and private administration, in particular as mayor of a municipality and as chairman of various boards of directors, namely in the field of regional economic development.
